SALLY MORSE CIRCA 1790 |
|
This sampler comes from Searsport, Maine,
and is typical of so many small American marking samplers that
have survived. Made of sturdy unbleached homespun linen and stitched
with vegetable-dyed silk, a stylized three-sided strawberry border
surrounds alphabets, numerals and an inscription, over a more
ambitious floral motif. |
