H S     POCKETBOOK

LATE 1800

Adapted from a late 18th century pocketbook in the collection of the Shelburne Museum. This very unusual optical design pocketbook was irregularly stitched (we have charted it more regularly than the original, which was rather crudely designed and executed but was nonetheless quite beautiful) entirely in Irish stitch, except for the initials and the background of the initials, which was cross stitched.
