| This English sampler retains the band shape of the 17th century, but the design scheme is very much 18th century with its four-sided floral border, centralized format, and pious verse within a cartouche. The fresh color was reproduced from the well preserved front side of the original sampler. Stitches used are geometric satin, cross, double running, and eyelet. |
