HELOISE WILLIAMS
This striking sampler uses traditional 18th and 19th century sampler motifs: multiple borders of strawberries, bands and a sawtooth edge. The naive, elongated house and trees are typical of early samplers. The alphabet is based on one illustrated in The Instructor, or American Young Man's Best Companion, Improved (Philadelphia, 1812).
