WINDS ON THE WOLD*

This is our original design, a sampler to keep you warm (and busy) all winter long, featuring the look of verre iglomise (reverse painted glass) in cross stitch around the outer border. The verse says:

Wind's on the wold*/The night is a 'cold/ And the river runs chill twixt mead and hill/ But kind and dear is the old house here/ And my heart is warm midst winter's harm.

The grass is done with turkeywork - a rughooking stitch that produces a wonderful three-dimensional woolly appearance.

* Wold means meadow
