Margaret Gamble

The mansion depicted on this formal Scottish sampler appears on many other Scottish samplers, but has never been identified. Other typical Scottish motifs - the peacocks, initials of both parents, illumination of letters by double running stitch, and rabbits - appear on this lovely piece.
